Marcus T. Epps is the Coordinator of Student Success at Berea College. In the past, Marcus has served various capacities including: Academic Advisor (University of Kentucky), Coordinator of Academic Coaching & Tutor Training (Berea College), and Assistant Tutorial Coordinator (University at Buffalo).
Marcus earned both his Bachelor’s Degree (Political Science, minor Global Gender Studies) and his Master’s degree (Educational Culture, Policy, and Society) the SUNY University at Buffalo. He is currently pursuing his PhD from the University of Kentucky (Educational Psychology).
After many years of being a college student and working in higher education, Marcus has become well-versed in navigating higher education; however, this has not always been the case. As a student, Marcus faced academic, personal, and medical struggles, many of which were worsened by a lack of knowledge on the subtle things you are supposed to just “know” as a college student.
This blog is designed to help students overcome the struggles of life in college, being reminded that they are not alone as they move through the formative, fun, yet terrifying years of college. This blog will cover topics surrounding the issues of:
- Goal-Setting & Time Management
- Motivation & Learning
- Study Strategies
- and more
If there are topics you would like to see explored, leave them in the suggestion box. As a student success specialist, Marcus seeks to be in tune with what students feel are the most pressing issues that they face inside and outside of the classroom.
